The State Executive Approved N500m Counterpart Fund ForACRESAL

 

The 17th State Executive Council meeting of 2022, presided over by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Fintiri, which was the last council in the year 2022, approved N500m as a counterpart fund for the takeoff and implementation of Agro-Climate Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) in Adamawa State.

Dr. Umar Garba Pella, Commissioner of Information and Strategy, explained that the project, which lasted six years, was a World Bank program aimed at providing sustainable landscape management practices in targeted watersheds in northern Nigeria and was adopted by the governors of nineteen northern states.

He revealed that Adamawa will contribute $34 million to the state, which he says will go a long way toward addressing environmental degradation, among other effects of desertification.

Dr. Pella also revealed that the council has approved the procurement of One Brand New Armoured Toyota Land Cruiser 2022 model and One brand Toyota Land Cruiser as backup vehicles for the Office of the Governor.    

 

He stated that the Governor has been using his personal car in the convoy since taking office, sacrificing for the benefit of the state, but that the vehicles will cost N308 million and will be supplied by A.S. Galadima Global Concept.

The commissioner added that the council has also approved a 33 VK ITC line network each to Opalo,Shemun, Segun, and Hokki Villages in Lamurde Local Government Area at over N243. The communities used to have electricity, but sometime within the year a storm broke down all their connections to the National Grid, and therefore the council considered the need for the area to be reconnected to enable the inhabitants to have light.

According to the Commissioner, the Council had also approved over N20m as an advance payment for the studies of five mineral types in Adamawa to the consultant earlier this year.

Dr. Garba Pella also disclosed that the council approved an N61m variation for the supply and installation of a 30 metric ton per hour capacity fertilizer blending plant in Damare, Girei Local Government.

He stated that the approval was granted due to the high exchange rate and rise in material costs, among other factors, bringing the total value of the contract to more than N239m.

According to him, the council approved the resuscitation of the fertilizer blending plant earlier this year at an initial cost of over N77 million in order to boost the state's agribusinesses.
