RE- CONCEDING THE MORAL HIGH GROUND
It all depends on ones perspective when making political analysis,it therefore did not come as a surprise that Ahmed Sajo ( Chairman of the media committee for APC Presidential Campaign Council in Charge of Adamawa) sees a storm in a tea-cup and calls it a storm. This is not a new thing, but more interesting Is the fact that he has selective amnesia as he chooses to remember only what pleases him.
However, this time aroun Ahmad Sajo got it all wrong as no amount of demagoguery can hoodwink the slowest thinking follower of political history of Adamawa state.
But before going to the basics it is necessary to remind Sajoh that the PDP government in Adamawa nurses no fear of the impotent political structure that he seems to portray as a threat to government of Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. To allow APC the use of Ribadu Square facilities poses no threat to the government. Neither does it embarrass a government that bore no malice to the political ambitions of a confused political camp.
Thank God ,Sajoh has exposed their subterfuge and shenanigans of "setting traps";now we know their type of politics. We understand and remember from years past the actions of Ahmad Sajoh under a previous regime where despite sanctions by the NBC, he denied opposition party usage of local media including the airing of adverts.
How can such a person have the moral standing to judge other people while keeping blind to the legitimacy of the activities of government under contract with a commercial company.
The attitude of Ahmad Sajoh today is reminiscent of destructive tendencies that affected his principas HE Jibrilla Bindow and HE Nyako.
Ahmad Sajoh's unbridled cowboy media antics has flared up negative reactions including the sensitive issue of genocide memo that enormously influenced the unceremonious ouster of his former principal.
The media activities of the APC anchored by Sajoh is mischievous, misleading and poses a danger to peaceful politicking and social harmony in the state.
Even worse is the fact that he chose to forget that their required site for their trap (Ribadu Square)has long been contracted out to a construction company ( Triacta) for renovation. In any event the decision was taken long before the APC applied for its use.
Does Ahmad Sajoh deem it desirable that the contract be delayed because of a one day event? Does he intend to have the government interfere with the site at the people's expense now that the contractors are on site? Such thinking is monstrously anti-social and counter productive.
This much can be said of APC's thinking and order of doing things.
Going back to the master of setting traps makes one to notice that the trap setter sees only from his personal prism and indvertently reminds other of mischievious trap set in the past. Of course we wont forget Way back in the days of Ahmad as the Commissioner for Information and and strategy, how he vehemently denied rival political parties usage of Media houses in the state by writing to the NBC.
It is even on record that Even when NBC protested against Sajoh's strangulation of the opposition, he vehemently insisted ostensibly for political reasons, probably that informs his impression that the same is the case now.
The APC spokesman is very much aware of his antics,a fact that blinds him from looking into the fact that the situation now differs and is completely the opposite of his motives when he was in charge.
This government has no fear of how many people appear in Ribadu Square,a calculating and research based entity,it is aware that the numbers that appear in Ribadu Square do not automatically translate into ballots that will be cast. The PDP campaign of Ahmadu Fintiri goes beyond shenanigans and traps,it does not depend on state capital locations, but is embedded in the grassroots.
It is in the mountains of Michika, Toongo, Jada, even in Sajoh's hometown of Gella,Madagali, the plains of Gyuk ,Ngurore and shelleng, ,the remote places of Tipto and Kiri, , Gwalantaba, Dunne etc And in all places where the diverse people of Adamawa can be found.
For the benefit of all the people of Adamawa state it is advisable that all of us abstain from sentiments that bear no relevance to the issues that affect our people most. Elections are won by services delivered on promises made.
A legislator in Abuja that toes the line of Abuja politicians and is blocked by the realities on ground in Adamawa should be wary of a media assistant hell- bent on justifying his pay lest she falls the same way Ahmad Sajo "aided" them to their utter regrets.
The APC needs a voice that can help shape its future and not a loose cannon that is suffering from selective amnesia, one that sees faults in others but can hardly remember his collosal defects as a manager of information or of men.
Sajoh please bear in mind that it is the fruits of good governance in Adamawa that would translate into votes.
Fintiri remains undaunted. Make no mistake!!!
