Tems was nominated for the Best Original Song category at the 2023 Oscars for her collaborative work on "Lift Me Up" with popular singer, Rihanna. However, her attire at the event caused a stir on social media, with netizens criticizing her for obstructing the view of others.

One online user commented, "Her dress looked great on the red carpet, but it was incredibly inconsiderate once she was seated. Her stylist should have prepared a different outfit for her to change into before taking her seat. It's something that many celebrities do at events."
