Adele Gives James Corden a Proper Send-Off in Emotional ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Finale

 James Corden's tenure on The Late Late Show is coming to a close in three days, which means the end of popular segments like "Crosswalk the Musical," "Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts," and, notably, "Carpool Karaoke."

Adele joined Corden for the final ride, and they sang "Rolling in the Deep," which was also the closing song on their first drive in 2016.

Adele covered Barbra Streisand's "Don't Rain On My Parade" this time, but made it clear that she doesn't like musicals and likely won't pursue a Tony Award to complete her EGOT.

She told Corden that she doesn't need everything to be in song all the time and that the "EGO" suits her better.

The remaining songs in the setlist included tracks such as "Hometown Glory," "Love is a Game," and "I Drink Wine," which Adele penned after having an intense six-hour-long conversation with Corden. She reflected on the past year, acknowledging that she felt responsible for her own actions as an adult, especially after leaving Simon. During a family vacation, Corden confided in her that he was also struggling. Adele credited Corden and his family for looking after her during that time and expressed how much she appreciated their support.

Their conversation inspired Adele to write "I Drink Wine," which she later shared with Corden. He empathized with the lyrics, as they reflected his own feelings. Even after Corden returns to England, their friendship will continue to be reflected in their music. Adele tearfully promised to move back home if she felt ready for it, just to keep her "best friend in the whole world" close by. Corden agreed that distance and time would not affect their friendship, joking that they would see each other again soon anyway.

Corden expressed his gratitude for the friendships he had made during his time in Los Angeles, likening them to a family. However, he knew it was time to return home for the sake of his family and friends who were growing older and whom he missed dearly. Despite this, he admitted he would miss going to work with his friends every day and the adventures he had in Los Angeles.
