‘Big Mouth’ Renewed for Eighth and Final Season at Netflix

The duration of puberty has a limit.

Netflix has announced that the animated comedy series "Big Mouth" has been renewed for its eighth and final season. The spinoff series, "Human Resources," will also conclude with its previously approved second season.

"Big Mouth" is now Netflix's longest-running original series, excluding children's and family programming. This title was previously held by "Grace and Frankie" and "Orange Is the New Black," which both had seven seasons.

The show, inspired by the childhood experiences of Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg, follows a group of friends and their hormone monsters as they navigate adolescence, sexuality, and growing up. Kroll stars alongside John Mulaney, Jessi Klein, Jason Mantzoukas, and Ayo Edebiri (who replaced Jenny Slate). Season 6 premiered in 2022, and Seasons 7, 8 will come in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

"Human Resources" is set in the same world as "Big Mouth," where different hormone monsters are tasked with regulating human emotions. Kroll stars alongside Aidy Bryant, Randall Park, Keke Palmer, David Thewlis, Brandon Kyle Goodman, and Maya Rudolph.

Nick Kroll said, "If you had told adolescent Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg that middle school would take eight years to finish, they would have said, 'Yeah, that sounds about right. This seems like it will never end.'"

Billy Wee, Netflix's director of adult animation, praised "Big Mouth" as a "towering achievement in animated comedy that will make Netflix history for its longevity," and he expressed his excitement about sharing two more hilarious seasons with fans before the show reaches its conclusion.
