iPhone 15 Ultra Will Be The New Zoom King

iPhone 15 Ultra Will Be The New Zoom King

Recently, the Apple rumor mill has taken a wild turn. There has been a lot of new information about unreleased phones. And while some of them may sound too good to be true, many come from seemingly reliable tipsters. For example, the last hot rumor about the iPhone 15 Ultra.

Basically, according to the tipster, the iPhone 15 Ultra ( or iPhone 15 Pro Max) will come with a telephoto camera that will feature a variable zoom lens. This would be Apple’s first integration of variable lenses in its mobile camera department. And as you can tell, if Apple goes through this route, the competition will be fierce.

iPhone 15 Ultra: A New Zoom King in the Making

Samsung is currently holding the smartphone zoom king status with its Galaxy S23 Ultra. That phone comes with a 10MP 3x telephoto unit and one 10MP 10x optical zoom sensor. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro Max features a single 3x optical zoom lens. So, there is a massive difference when it comes to zooming abilities.

Moreover, we recently learned that Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra would push its camera department to the maximum level. It will come with a variable zoom camera and ditch one of the zoom cameras present in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. And it seems Apple wants to take the same approach as Samsung.

The variable zoom will not be new for the iPhone 15 Ultra or S24 Ulta, though. There have been phones with this tech before. For example, you have the Sony Xperia 1 III, which can switch between focal lengths. It basically has a moving glass that gives you two different levels of zoom. And you can even zoom digitally between them.

But Sony took a different approach with the Xperia 1 IV, where you can find a fluid continuous zoom range and a lens that acts like a full-size zoom lens. Nonetheless, the tech on the iPhone 15 Ultra and Galaxy S23 Ultra will definitely be more advanced. It should also offer more flexibility. And we hope to learn more about it in the coming days.
