Adamawa State House of Assembly's Commerce Committee Vows to Revitalize Ministry of Commerce and Industries

The Commerce, Trades, and Industries Committee of the Adamawa State House of Assembly has expressed its commitment to revitalizing the Ministry of Commerce and Industries. The committee's Chairman, Hon. Barr. Umar Bobbo Ismaila, representing Fufore/Gurin constituency, made this pledge during a visit to the ministry, Jimeta Shopping Complex, and Jimeta Ultra Modern Market.

Importance of the Ministry:

Hon. Barr. Ismaila emphasized that the ministry serves as the foundation for the state's development. She revealed that the ministry houses several departments and six parastatals, including Adamawa Investment and Property Development Company, Mubi Burnt Bricks Ltd, Yola Office Stationary and Chalk Industries, Jimeta Ultra Modern Market, Jimeta Shopping Complex, and Adamawa State Plaza.

Mrs. Rifkatu highlighted the challenges faced by some parastatals, such as the closure of Stationary and Chalk Industries and the non-functionality of Mubi Burnt Bricks, leading to encroachment on their land. She urged the committee to investigate the root causes and take action to revitalize these industries, thereby enhancing revenue generation.

Issues at Jimeta Shopping Complex and Ultra Modern Market:

During the visit, Aliyu Hamman Jidda, the Commercial Officer of Jimeta Shopping Complex, cited challenges, including inadequate office accommodation, lack of permanent parking space, security light, and the dilapidated state of offices and shops.

Similarly, Joseline Augustine Tizhe, the Secretary of Jimeta Ultra Modern Market, highlighted the need for security light and additional security personnel to address security concerns.
