In a concerning incident, the Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended three local hunters and a woman on charges of torturing a 14-year-old boy, Abobo Nasani, accused of stealing N21,000. The incident occurred in Tasala community within the Demsa Local Government Area.

Incident Details:

Abobo, a resident of Tasala community, allegedly stole the sum of N21,000 from Ngularo Pemu, a woman from the same locality. The local hunters involved in the incident are Kanisi India (35 years old), Paul India (25 years old), and Dickson Hani (30 years old). Alongside them, the woman, Ngularo Pemu, is also under investigation.

Torturous Acts:

During the investigation, the local hunters and Ngularo Pemu reportedly subjected Abobo to horrifying acts of torture. They poured petrol and "ogogoro" on the minor while torturing and flogging him in an attempt to force a confession. The boy was tied to a tree, tortured, and left starving for two days before being dumped by the roadside in Demsa.

Investigation and Confession:

Despite enduring the physical abuse, Abobo steadfastly denied the theft allegations. The security personnel repeatedly inflicted harm upon the boy by continuing to flog him and dousing him with petrol and local gin. The goal was to make him confess, but the boy's refusal persisted.

After bringing the boy to their office for discreet investigation, the hunters later transferred the case to their Local Government Headquarters in Demsa. Here, senior officers continued the torture and starvation to extract a confession, yet their efforts remained futile.

Release and Implications:

Unable to establish a link between Abobo and the alleged crime, the officers released him, leaving him by the roadside. Abobo's father, Marvelous Tunoh, shared this detail. Notably, Ngularo Pemu had chosen to involve the local hunters instead of the police due to her suspicions.

Legal Actions and Conclusion:

All suspects have confessed to their actions and expressed remorse during their interrogation by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje. CP Afolabi Babatola, the Commissioner of Police, responded promptly by ordering the immediate arrest of the involved hunters.

SP Nguroje confirmed the arrest and stated that the Adamawa State Police Command will pursue charges against all the suspects in court upon the completion of the investigation.
