FCE Yola Apologizes for 2020 Job Racketeering Scam: Victims Await Justice

The Federal College of Education (FCE) Yola has issued a formal apology to the victims of a job racketeering scam that took place in 2020. The college acknowledged its wrongdoing and expressed commitment to rectify the situation.

FCE Yola’s Apology and Commitment

The management of FCE Yola, through its Information and Protocol Unit, has publicly extended its remorse to the victims of the 2020 job racketeering scheme.

The apology was conveyed by College Registrar Mallam Gidado Ahmed.

According to Fact Check News,  FCE Yola stated that the recruitment was carried out without the necessary approvals from federal government authorities, making it an illegitimate endeavour.

Involvement of Former Acting Registrar

The college implicated Yahaya Hammanyaji, the former acting registrar, as the mastermind behind the job racketeering. Approximately 1,000 individuals were reportedly deceived by this scheme. FCE Yola expressed regret over the actions of Hammanyaji, emphasizing the need for justice to be served.

Victims’ Plight and Calls for Justice

Numerous victims of job racketeering have come forward, claiming that they fell victim to the scam and lost substantial amounts of money. These individuals, who were promised employment through the fraudulent scheme, are seeking justice and urging the college to hold the former acting registrar accountable. Many of the victims allegedly paid varying sums of money, ranging from N800,000 to N1,000,000 per employment slot, to the job recruitment syndicate.

College’s Acknowledgment of Error

FCE Yola has admitted to the gravity of the situation, characterizing the 2020 job recruitment exercise as a “grave error.” The institution clarified that the recruitment process lacked the necessary approvals from authorities, leading to the unfortunate scam. The college vowed to consider the victims in future job opportunities and encouraged them to be patient.

Reported Scam Scale

A fact-finding committee that investigated the job racketeering revealed that a staggering 930 individuals fell victim to the cash-for-job scam. This report sheds light on the widespread nature of the deception and highlights the urgency of addressing the issue.
