BINANI VS FINTIRI: PDP, INEC SAY NO NEED TO CALL ANY WITNESS
INEC and the PDP have asserted that calling witnesses is unnecessary, citing the adequacy of the evidence presented before the tribunal.
In the case brought by Aishatu Binani, the APC Governorship Candidate, both INEC and PDP, as the first and third respondents, respectively, opted to rely on and adopt their submitted documents, opting not to call witnesses.
While addressing the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Yola, Adamawa State Capital, the respondents explained that a thorough review of their evidence led them to this decision.
They pointed out the substantial number of documents already submitted, which they believe sufficiently support their positions.
Consequently, they concluded their defense and the tribunal scheduled the next session for September 12, 2023, for the final written address adoption.
Aishatu Binani, the APC Governorship Candidate in the 2023 general election, initiated the petition against INEC, PDP, and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, challenging the legitimacy of Fintiri's victory.
