Applications are now open for the University of Memphis Scholarship in the USA for the year 2025. The University of Memphis offers competitive merit-based scholarships to newly admitted international graduate students on J-1 or F-1 visas.
The Graduate International Merit Scholarship at the University of Memphis recognizes academic excellence within our diverse campus community. It aims to support outstanding international students who are joining our innovative programs led by our esteemed faculty. These scholarships are awarded for the academic year, covering both the fall and spring semesters.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the University of Memphis Scholarship, graduate students must meet at least one of the following criteria upon admission:
- Achieve a minimum score of 310 on the GRE, with at least 150 in GRE Verbal and 150 in GRE Quantitative, along with a score of 2.5 or higher in AWA; or equivalent GMAT scores.
- Attain a cumulative undergraduate degree GPA equivalent to 3.25 on a 4.0 scale, as determined by a credential evaluation agency such as www.naces.org, or possess a relevant master’s degree from an accredited institution.

Award Amount
The award amount varies and covers the difference between international and domestic non-Tennessee resident tuition rates. This scholarship cannot be combined with any other institutional scholarships covering tuition and fees.Important Information
- Graduate students must maintain continuous full-time enrollment in credit hours each fall and spring semester to retain scholarship eligibility. Additionally, a minimum UofM GPA of 3.0 or higher must be maintained every semester.
- All scholarships are awarded for the academic year, covering both fall and spring semesters.
Awarding and Future Eligibility
- Award amounts are updated 48-72 hours after course registration and are revised on a semester basis.
- All students are evaluated at the end of the spring semester for future eligibility.
Please Note
- Dual citizens and/or permanent residents are not eligible for this scholarship. The Graduate International Merit Scholarship is exclusively for first-time applicants. Continuing or currently enrolled students are ineligible.
- Student-athletes must comply with NCAA regulations.
