THE DESERVEDLY BESTOWED AWARD - George Kushi
It is no fluke that back to back governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has emerged as the best performing governor in Nigeria's North East. Even more interesting is the fact that the commendations and awards are coming from presidents of the rival APC.
In what appears to be a a commendable feat, Adamawa state has continually been quoted as one of the fastest developing states in the country in terms of infrastructural development,in critical areas like road networks with connecting bridges, education, water supply and healthcare delivery.
When in the last dispensation the same honor was bestowed on him, many were surprised that what hitherto was considered a rural provincial state could attain such lofty a height. However with a renewed endorsement, there is no doubt that the desired need to move in leaps and bounds has been proved by the Adamawa project created by Ahmadu Fintiri.
Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri ,a new breed politician full of futuristic ideas started transforming the state with the initial two months he spent as an acting governor.
When he presented himself for election four years later,he won against all odds. After serving meritoriously, against odds greater than the first tenure,he won. Winning the second tenure was no mean feat, just like the late honor confirms that he has been doing a wonderful job.
The phenomenal transformation of the once provincial state has attracted encomiums from his colleagues after seeing the change in the state. It therefore came as no surprise that both Buhari and Tinubu and their retinue of advisers found Ahmadu Fintiri worthy of commendation despite the fact that he is a stalwart of the opposition party.
Noteworthy is the fact that the president identified Fintiri as one of those that have made democracy "to stay in Nigeria ,adding that" there is hope for the future "with the calibre of recipients honored.
Without an iota of doubt,Fintiri has attracted praises from all quarters,a fact nobody can contest with. Deep in their hearts, even Fintiri haters can only out of envy refuse to praise him but cannot fault his well planned and articulated the laudable projects that are now models for others to copy.
For the first time ,under Fintiri,Adamawa leads while others follow.
