9mobile Sees Subscriber Exodus Despite New Management
Telecom company 9mobile continues to lose customers, with 7,127 subscribers switching to other networks in September, representing 90% of all outgoing porting in the month. According to NCC data, while MTN gained the most new customers from other operators (63% of incoming ports), 9mobile attracted only 30 incoming ports.
Despite recent acquisition by LH Telecommunications Limited and the appointment of a new board led by Thomas Etuh, 9mobile’s active subscriptions dropped to 3.6 million in September, reflecting its struggle to retain customers amid competition from MTN, Airtel, and Globacom.
The NCC attributes these porting trends not only to service quality but also to subscribers seeking cheaper call and data rates.
