Job Summary
The Community Engagement Assistant will be responsible for facilitating communication, supporting project implementation, and strengthening relationships with community stakeholders. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, experience in community mobilization, and the ability to collect and analyze feedback to improve project effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
1. Community Engagement & Stakeholder Management
✔ Work with teams to design and implement community-based activities.
✔ Serve as the main point of contact for communication with local authorities and community members.
✔ Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and awareness campaigns.
✔ Establish and maintain strong relationships with local leaders, service providers, and other stakeholders.
2. Project Implementation & Monitoring
✔ Support project execution at the community level.
✔ Assist in organizing training sessions for community members and local stakeholders.
✔ Participate in data collection activities (e.g., surveys, assessments).
✔ Monitor project activities and report progress to the Protection Coordinator.
3. Community Feedback & Complaint Management
✔ Develop feedback mechanisms such as hotlines, suggestion boxes, and complaint forms.
✔ Ensure timely tracking, resolution, and confidentiality of community complaints.
✔ Analyze feedback data to identify recurring themes and areas for improvement.
✔ Educate community members on how to access feedback channels and what to expect.
Qualifications & Requirements
✔ Degree in Social Science, Development Studies, International Affairs, or related fields.
✔ 2+ years of experience in community engagement or protection programming.
✔ Previous experience working with host communities, IDPs, and returnees.
✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and data collection tools.
✔ Strong understanding of protection principles and best practices.
Desired Skills
✅ Ability to work in multi-ethnic and multicultural environments.
✅ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
✅ High ethical standards and ability to handle confidential information.
✅ Familiarity with the social and cultural dynamics of Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kano is an advantage.
