Job Summary

The Enumerator will be responsible for conducting surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions to gather data on key development and humanitarian programs. The role requires attention to detail, ethical data collection practices, and strong interpersonal skills to engage with respondents effectively.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Collection & Field Surveys

  • Conduct household surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions.
  • Accurately record responses using KoboToolbox, ODK, CommCare, or paper-based questionnaires.
  • Follow sampling protocols and ensure correct respondents are interviewed.

2. Data Management & Quality Control

  • Ensure confidentiality and data integrity during data collection.
  • Identify and report challenges encountered in the field.
  • Maintain data collection tools and equipment.

3. Compliance & Ethical Considerations

  • Obtain informed consent from respondents before data collection.
  • Follow Plan International’s safeguarding policies.
  • Attend training sessions and debriefing meetings as required.

4. Field Logistics & Team Collaboration

  • Travel to assigned data collection sites in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors and other enumerators.
  • Submit completed questionnaires and data according to the project schedule.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum of BA/BSc, HND, or OND in a relevant field.
✔ Previous experience in data collection, field research, or surveys (preferably with NGOs or government agencies).
✔ Familiarity with KoboToolbox, ODK, CommCare, or similar tools.
✔ Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with respondents.
✔ Ability to work in remote or challenging field locations.
✔ Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
✔ Proficiency in Hausa, English, and at least one local language in Sokoto.
Cultural sensitivity and an understanding of ethical considerations in data collection.
✔ Strong organizational and time management skills.
