Scope of Responsibilities and Accountabilities

The Project Pharmacy Manager will be responsible for coordinating and managing all pharmacy-related activities, ensuring proper drug supply, stock management, and compliance with MSF protocols and national regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all pharmacy-related activities in the project area.
  • Manage staff training, development, and supervision within the pharmacy unit.
  • Ensure compliance with MSF protocols, quality standards, and national drug laws.
  • Plan and coordinate pharmaceutical logistics, including ordering, supply, and storage of medicines.
  • Monitor drug stock levels and manage stock to prevent shortages, overstocking, or expired medications.
  • Maintain hygiene, security, and pest control measures for pharmacy storage.
  • Support antibiotic stewardship, drug reconciliation, and safe medication practices.
  • Ensure the cold chain system is functioning correctly for sensitive medical supplies.
  • Maintain accurate drug consumption and prescription reports.
  • Act as MSF’s focal person for NAFDAC regulations, ensuring pharmaceutical legal compliance.
  • Participate in pharmaceutical meetings, training, and external audits.
  • Support the supply team in warehouse inventory and medical item requests.
  • Manage narcotic and psychotropic medications, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Cover for mission pharmacist duties during leave or absence.

Minimum Requirements

Education

Degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent qualification).

Experience

At least 2 years in a relevant pharmaceutical role (NGO or humanitarian experience is an advantage).
✔ Previous experience in MSF or other NGOs is an added benefit.

Languages

Fluency in English (both written and spoken).

Technical Skills & Competencies

✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
✔ Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
✔ Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
