Job Summary
The Protection Officer will be responsible for implementing and managing protection activities, community feedback mechanisms, and gender equality programs. The role requires working closely with community members, stakeholders, and project partners to ensure effective monitoring and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Protection Monitoring & Community Engagement
✔ Conduct protection monitoring at household and community levels.
✔ Identify and report protection concerns arising from WFP food assistance programs.
✔ Maintain confidentiality and uphold the rights and dignity of beneficiaries.
2. Data Collection & Reporting
✔ Use quantitative and qualitative tools to collect protection data.
✔ Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on protection activities.
✔ Verify and analyze collected data through interviews, observation, and triangulation.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration & Advocacy
✔ Engage with NGOs, government agencies, and local leaders to strengthen protection programs.
✔ Represent eHealth Africa in field meetings and external engagements.
✔ Map protection stakeholders and follow up with communities.
4. Gender Equality & Women Empowerment
✔ Conduct community dialogues on gender equality and women’s rights.
✔ Organize capacity-building workshops for stakeholders on gender-related issues.
✔ Implement and report on gender-sensitive programs.
Qualifications & Requirements
✔ Degree in Law, Human Rights, International Affairs, Social Sciences, or related fields.
✔ 2–3 years of experience in protection programming within displacement settlements.
✔ Previous experience working with IDPs, returnees, and host communities.
✔ Proficiency in data collection, reporting, and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel).
✔ Strong understanding of protection principles and humanitarian best practices.
Desired Skills
✅ Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
✅ Ability to work under pressure in multi-ethnic environments.
✅ Fluent in English, Hausa, Kanuri, or other local languages.
✅ Familiarity with local cultural and social dynamics in the area.
